The POWER Team

Mazer's Essay is about "Christian Gladiators" that make up the Power Team and the spectacle that is their show. As i have never seen a Power Team presentation in person, I took it up to watch some videos on Youtube and all I have to say is wow. I see how these could be effective in an midwestern town, but then she says they are able to unleash this kind of "fervor" in large cities. Reading this article, created even more worries about the religious right in our country. First how these overly homophobic and sexist men, can create and maintain such a following baffles me. How he uses his overtly "roided" out build to threaten any naysayers and detractors is consistent with how most people, who attend these shows, treat anybody who has opposing views or is different to them. While I obviously disagree with their views, it is impossible to say the Power Team show does not work on some level. If people can find help or hope in faith, then by all means embrace it, but they should not be forced into it by the so-called "Bouncers of Jesus".
